Dive into the world of Corpus Christi, Quebec City with this 300-piece puzzle, offering an inspiring way to rediscover this masterpiece piece by piece.

This imposing work by Lemieux is constructed from an accumulation of details, characters, and actions. Without being a caricature, it presents, with a few touches of humor, the omnipresence of the Catholic religion in Quebec in the 1940s.  Looking more closely, we see certain characters whose posture reflects their indifference to the action taking place. The artist himself is depicted at the door of a tavern he owns, waiting with his arms crossed for the ceremony to end.  The S-shaped road in the image leads the eye across the canvas to savor its fine details. Lemieux offers us a superb aerial perspective, allowing us to look down slightly on the magnificent city of Quebec.

Jean Paul Lemieux (1904-1990) was one of the foremost twentieth century painters in Canada. He worked in several different styles, as represented by his five artistic periods, going from minimalist to expressionist. His career is deeply connected to Quebec City, where Lemieux lived, taught, and painted, and his paintings often feature emblematic scenes of French Canada, often combined with a sense of the vast spaces of his homeland.
