Going Green at the Grocery

Sobeys is removing single-use plastic grocery bags from ALL of its 255 grocery stores in Canada by the end of THIS WEEK! The Canadian-wide chain started their phase out this past Saturday, being the FIRST national Canadian grocery retailer to ban single-use plastic bags. Which will take 225-million plastic grocery bags out of circulation annually and we are HERE FOR IT!

At Bradshaws we have whole heartedly embraced the new normal of re-usable bags AND have sourced high quality, durable, washable, reusable grocery, produce and bulk bags from our favourite brands.

We are making it super EASY to make the switch from plastic to cotton! We have everything you need to get started with sustainable shopping including a variety of re-usable bags like these – multi-size organic mesh produce bags from Canadian company Credo Bags! Spend a a little more to support a Canadian business while implementing your new zero-waste approach. Credo is the only North American company that actually mills this specific 100% certified organic cotton fabric in Montreal! The clever mesh fabric design allows the cashiers at grocery stores to easily identify which items are inside.

These lightweight fine mesh organic cotton bags are perfect for apples, oranges, and come in small, medium and large sizes for all kinds of produce!

Add some COLOUR to your shopping with our VIBRANT Kikkerland mesh shopping bags! Replace plastic bags by using these eco-friendly 100% cotton market bags that hold up to 22 lbs. and are machine washable. Great for schlepping groceries home!

Other ways we are ditching plastic in our everyday is with our line of  amazing all natural beeswax wraps from Abeego.  Abeego picks up where the peel leaves off, protecting food and letting it breath, just like it does in nature. So toss the plastic wrap and baggies for good! The result is fresher food, naturally!
